Every moment, everywhere.

Your photos, in real folders, on every device.

Photobe is a complete photo and video library that needs no account: albums that are folders on your disk, editing, search, trips and events, a map, RAW and HEIC, on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux. Add an account when you want the same library on every device, and people to share it with.

Account optional

Everything works without an account. An account adds the cloud.

There is no trial and no locked version. The app on your device is the full app. What an account adds is the part that needs a server: keeping devices in step and letting other people in.

Without an account

The whole library, on this device, free.

  • Albums that are real folders, browsed as a list, a grid or a masonry wall.
  • Crop, rotate, flip and resize, with the option to save into a new file.
  • RAW and HEIC photos, on every platform.
  • Trips and events, search, map, on this day, duplicates, cleanup, trash, slideshow, photo book.
  • Camera import on iPhone and Android.
  • Export the whole library as plain files, any time.
With an account and a plan

The same library on every device, and people to share it with.

  • Sync between phone, laptop, desktop and the web viewer.
  • Shared albums with collaborators and viewers, invited by email.
  • Sharing by link, with a password and an expiry if you like.
  • Activity notifications, including push on the phone.
  • Signed-in devices, two-step verification, sign-in with Google or Apple.
  • Or bring your own storage: an S3 bucket, WebDAV or SFTP.

Sharing needs an account with an active plan. A device that is not signed in cannot share an album, create a link or invite anybody. Nothing leaves that device.

The library

Built for real libraries, not endless timelines.

Photobe does the things a photo library should do, and does them on your device. None of it needs a server.

Albums that are real folders

An album is a folder on your disk, not a row in a database. Rename it, move it, copy it with any other program and Photobe keeps up. Pin, favorite or hide albums, and choose list, grid or masonry per device.

Edit without opening a studio

Crop with presets, rotate and flip, resize. Rotations are written without redrawing the picture, so nothing is lost, and every edit can go into a new file beside the original instead of over it.

RAW and HEIC on every platform

Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and other RAW files open on Windows and Linux too, and so do iPhone HEIC photos. No conversion step, no second app.

Trips, events, search and the map

Photobe groups your photographs by when and where they were taken: a week away becomes a trip, an afternoon out becomes a day out, a birthday at home becomes an event. Search by name, album, date or town, in plain phrases like "last summer". See everything on a map. Place names are worked out from a list carried inside the app, so nothing about where you have been is ever sent anywhere.

Duplicates, cleanup, and a trash that waits

Two ways to find duplicates, and you choose: an exact match compares files byte for byte and takes minutes, while a visual match finds pictures that merely look alike — the same shot resized, re-sent or re-saved — and takes considerably longer. Cleanup suggestions round up screenshots, images from messaging apps, large videos and photographs you have never opened. Deleted items go to a trash that exists on every device and are kept for 30 days before they are gone.

Camera import on the phone

New captures on iPhone and Android land in the album you chose, on their own, so the camera roll never becomes the archive.

Photo book and slideshow

Turn an album into a book with page curl, light or dark pages, single page or fit to screen. Or start a slideshow and let it run.

Five themes, chosen per device

Light, dark, darker, black and high contrast. Each device remembers its own, along with its own layout and sort order.

Export everything, any time

Copy every original file to a folder you choose, in one go. There is no proprietary format to escape from, because there never was one.

With an account

Add an account when one device is not enough.

A plan buys storage on our side and the things that need it. The app itself does not change; it just stops being alone.

Sync across devices

Sign in on your phone, your laptop and your desktop and every album is everywhere. Only what changed travels. You decide whether sync may use mobile data, and how eager it should be, from very gentle to unlimited.

Shared albums with roles

Invite people by email as collaborators, who can add photos, or as viewers, who can only look. Activity notifications tell you when something changes, as push notifications on the phone.

Sharing by link

Give an album a link for people who do not use Photobe. Add a password, set an expiry, revoke it whenever you like. Links stop working the moment the album stops being shared.

The web viewer

my.photobe.app shows your library in any browser. It keeps nothing by default: previews come from the server and originals are fetched only when you open them.

Signed-in devices and two-step verification

See every device signed in to your account and sign out a lost phone from any other. Turn on two-step verification with any authenticator app, with recovery codes for the day the phone is gone.

Leaving is easy

Delete your account from the app or from this site. Nothing is removed for seven days, and you can change your mind. A closed account keeps a 30-day window to download everything.

Own storage plan

Or keep the cloud in your own hands.

On the Own storage plan your photos live in storage you already own and pay for: an S3-compatible bucket, a WebDAV server or an SFTP host. Photobe keeps only the catalogue. The files travel straight between your devices and your storage; they never pass through our servers, and there is no quota of ours to hit.

  • Hetzner Object Storage
  • Backblaze B2
  • Cloudflare R2
  • Wasabi
  • Scaleway
  • Amazon S3
  • MinIO and most NAS products
  • Any other S3-compatible service
  • WebDAV
  • SFTP

WebDAV and SFTP come with honest limits

  • No sharing at all: not with another Photobe account, and not by link. Switching to such storage ends every share and link you have.
  • The album list appears in the web viewer; the pictures do not.
  • Every device needs the storage password, so changing it means entering it again everywhere.
  • Previews are made on each device rather than once, so a new device has more to do the first time.

S3-compatible storage has none of these limits. Whichever you pick, switching storage later means your devices upload the library to the new place.

Privacy is the baseline, not the upgrade.

Local use is free and complete. Paid plans exist for storage and sync, not for removing ads or unlocking your own privacy. Your photos are never analyzed for advertising, never sold, never handed away.

  • No ads in the app, on any plan.
  • No behavioral tracking built into the experience.
  • No analysis of your photos, videos or albums for anything but showing them to you. Anything Photobe works out about them, from the town a photograph was taken in to which pictures look alike, is worked out on your device and stays there.
  • No pressure to sync. A library that belongs on one device can stay there forever.

What comes next

Family plans, end-to-end encryption and subscribing from the app stores are the next things on the list. Only things we are going to build appear there.

Questions

Questions people ask before they switch.

Is Photobe free?

Yes, on your own devices. The whole app works without an account and without paying: albums, editing, search, trips and events, the map, duplicates and cleanup. You pay only for a cloud plan, when you want the same library on several devices, a copy in the cloud, or albums shared with other people.

Do I need an account?

No. Install Photobe and use it on one device for as long as you like without one. An account is only for what needs a server: sync between devices, shared albums, links and the web viewer.

Where are my photos kept?

In ordinary folders on your device. An album is a folder you can also open with any file manager, so nothing is locked inside the app. With a cloud plan a copy is kept in our storage, or in storage you already own on the Own storage plan.

Can Photobe back up the photos on my phone?

With a cloud plan, the albums you sync are kept in the cloud as well as on your devices, so a lost or broken phone does not take them with it: sign in on the new one and they come back. It is sync rather than an archive, so a photo deleted everywhere is gone once the trash is emptied; keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Does Photobe show ads or use my photos?

No ads, on any plan. Your photos are never analyzed for advertising, never sold and never given to anyone. Places, trips and duplicates are worked out on your own device.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux, as the same app with the same library. With a cloud plan your library can also be opened in any browser at my.photobe.app.

Does it open RAW and HEIC photos?

Yes, on every platform: Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and other RAW files, and iPhone HEIC photos, open as they are, on Windows and Linux too, with no conversion step.

Every moment, everywhere.

Keep a local library forever, or add a plan the day one device stops being enough.

Photobe starts with your folders and calm browsing, then scales up to shared albums, links and cross-device access when you need more reach.
